The wait is finally over.  The puppies have arrived!  Once again, all first grade students will have the opportunity to participate in the "Learning with Lucky" reading incentive program.  A very big THANK YOU to Panhandle Alliance for Education and the generous grant to fund this program allowing each student to receive their very own puppy reading buddy.  All puppies will remain at school until the end of the school year.  Each student will get to read with their puppy on a daily basis.  Students will also have an opportunity to earn various puppy rewards.  The rewards are based on students completing their nightly homework.  Every time a student reads for 20 minutes, they earn a "puppy paw".  Each "puppy paw" leads to earning an incentive for their puppy.  The list of incentives include:
  • Adopt and name your puppy (5 paws)
  • Collar (10 paws)
  • Name Tag (20 paws)
  • Puppy check-up (30 paws)
  • Charm (40 paws)
  • Poster student makes (60 paws)
  • Lunch with your puppy (80 paws)
  • Blanket (100 paws)
  • Puppy sits with you for 2 days (120 paws)
  • Leash (140 paws)
  • Necklace for puppy (160 paws)
  • Puppy goes to library with you (180 paws)
  • Puppy treat (200 paws)
  • Puppy Color Page (220 paws)
  • Book (240 paws)
  • Bookmark (260 paws)
  • Puppy Toy (280 paws)
  • SURPRISE (300 paws)
This is an exciting and fun way to encourage reading at school and at home. Thank you so much for your support and for helping your child to become a successful and independent reader.
