The attachment shows us the importance of reading and the impact it can have on student learning.  There are many positive outcomes when students spend time reading or are read to.  Some of those outcomes include:

  • obtaining new words/vocabulary
  • learning how to predict
  • how to follow a story from beginning to end
  • enjoyment of a story
  • the connections between words and pictures
  • listening skills
  • focus,concentration
  • relationships between words and sounds
  • communication skills
  • how to use imaginations
  • how to read from left to right
  • gaining knowledge or information in the story
